Math Talk

I met with Fok-Shuen Leung today — he's the instructor in charge of UBC's Math 110 course this year. We had a great discussion, and one of the things he said struck me. Referring to the enthusiasm of many students, he said (I paraphrase, he was likely more poetic!) “Some of our students seem like beating hearts directly connected to their brain. I like to try to teach to the heart in those moments.” Great way of putting this! I can see why Fok is such a well-regarded teacher.
